Who am I?

Leigh Taylor Mickelson, a resident of Ossining, NY, is an artist and independent consultant with 24 years of experience in nonprofit arts management and program development.

From 2006 - 2019 she guided Clay Art Center, in Port Chester, NY, through an incredible period of growth, spending the last 6 years as their Executive Director. Prior, she was the Exhibitions Director for Baltimore Clayworks for 9 years. She received her MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Crafts, and from 2013-18 she served on the board of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) board as their Exhibitions Director. Mickelson is published in various publications and catalogs; has taught workshops across the East Coast; and exhibits her own work widely across the nation.

In her career as an arts administrator and curator, she has curated and organized dozens of exhibitions for galleries and organizations across the United States, and grew two art centers from small grassroots organizations into vibrant, nationally recognized arts institutions with expansive community impact. In 2019 she launched her consulting business, LTM Arts Consulting, LLC, focused on helping arts and culture organizations develop and grow. She has worked with artists, nonprofits and for profit businesses across the country to help them achieve their goals and face new challenges. She considers herself an art-minded game changer - passionate about getting things done and making things happen with art as the catalyst.

In 2020 she founded the Westchester Craft Crawl, an artist-organized outdoor studio tour in Westchester County, NY, featuring regional professional craft artists in clay, wood, fiber, metal,jewelry, glass and mixed media and atrracting over 2000 individuals from the area.
